Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk – Needs Volunteers

Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease that affects millions of people every year and to which none of us are immune. Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the US.

The Alzheimer's Memory Walk is taking place in hundreds of communities across the nation to help increase awareness and funds for Alzheimer in the US. There is also an Iraq Memory Walk taking place out of the Ali Base, Iraq. The money raised goes toward research to treat and prevent Alzheimer’s and for programs to help out those already touched by the disease.

The average walk is usually about 2-3 miles long and held on a beautiful autumn morning. Volunteering does not only consist of walking. Help is needed in other areas. If you are unable to walk please consider contacting your local chapter to help out in other areas. Many are in need of team captains (don’t need to walk), event planning volunteers, and local event committee volunteers. No age limits apply.

If you feel up to the walk it is easy to sign-up. There are over 600 communities involved across the US. Starting your own team is easy and it comes with your very own web site to use as your teams headquarters!

The web site is jammed packed with helpful tools to assist you whether you are walking or a team captain. There is also a store for gear, cute croc charms and a whole lot more.

There is nothing going on close to my area so I joined the virtual walk. The virtual walk is a great way to help without leaving your home. Of course it does not help in the expansion of my bottom...if you know what I mean!

Happy Volunteering!
